The Role of Public Policy in Shaping Regional Entrepreneurial Ecosystem
Tutor: doc. Ing. Ondřej Dvouletý, Ph.D., MSc. (ondrej.dvoulety@vse.cz)
The dissertation research aims to critically evaluate the entrepreneurial ecosystem in a selected region/country and examine the role of existing public policies in its development. The research should study the individual pillars and actors, as defined in the study by Stam (2015) and elaborated later in the study by Wurth et al. (2022). It should identify the individual actors and their cooperation and critically evaluate the current state of the ecosystem based on available data from secondary sources, contemporary literature and available scholarly studies. The thesis may be suitably supplemented with case studies and data from a primary survey among key actors and entrepreneurs.
Organizational Sustainability in the Context of Intelligent Technologies
Tutor: doc. Ing. Pavla Vrabcová, Ph.D., (pavla.vrabcova@ujep.cz)
This dissertation research explores how the emergence and integration of intelligent technologies, particularly artificial intelligence, machine learning, and automation tools, affect the pursuit of sustainability in organizations. The research will examine both the opportunities and risks these technologies pose for achieving environmental, social, and governance (ESG) goals. It will also analyze the ethical and strategic dimensions of decision-making in organizations operating in data-driven environments. Using a mixed-methods approach, the study aims to identify the factors that support or hinder sustainable transformation in the era of digital intelligence and to propose frameworks for responsible and resilient organizational behavior.
General information
During the 4-year study, students become specialized experts with an understanding of the functioning of social institutions in the Czech and international context. We integrate economic knowledge with elements of other social sciences (philosophy, sociology, political science). This allows graduates to solve social problems in contexts with an emphasis on the practical impacts of individual solutions and taking into account the functioning of the public sector and the actions of individual actors. The program is based on the tradition of Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE), which has been taught at universities in Western Europe since the 1920s.
Graduate profile and employment
The goal of the study is to develop in graduates the ability to think critically and consider social problems in a broader context while maintaining a sufficiently deep specialization in the field of economics and other scientific disciplines. In addition to an interdisciplinary approach to problem solving, emphasis is placed on deepening soft skills, such as teamwork, cultivated oral and written expression, language proficiency, innovative forms of teaching and research with the support of distance and experimental tools.
Graduates work in two areas:
in academia and other research-oriented institutions,
in the professional field.
They are prepared to perform a wide range of professions with significant social impacts in public administration, national and supranational regulatory bodies, in politics, in the non-profit sector (charities, think tanks), in influential organizations, as journalists or in the private sector, especially in the areas of CSR (corporate social responsibility) and PR, but also in senior executive positions that require a holistic view of the problems being solved. Our graduates find employment in the Czech Republic and abroad.
