Behavioral Aspects of Financial (or Investment) Decision-Making
Tutor: Dr. Martin Stachoň (martin.stachon@ujep.cz)
This research would focus on the psychological factors influencing financial and investment choices, such as cognitive biases, risk perception, and decision heuristics. It could also explore how behavioral insights can improve financial decision-making and policy design.
Reproductive Strategies and Social Factors
Tutor: doc. Eva Jozífková (evasmid@centrum.cz)
In this project, the applicant will verify how reproductive strategies are applied in contemporary human populations, specifically in relation to the hierarchy structure of the society, stress, and support by analysis of the partner choice, length of the relationship, the mutual hierarchical position of the partners in the relationship, higher or lower social vulnerability, and conversely tolerance to violence between partners and in society. Research will be managed via questionnaires collected in the general population and subgroups (students, sexual minorities, and violence victims). More data about 1) genetics (different alleles of selected genes), 2) epigenetics (DNA methylation), and 3) early ontogeny factors (dermatoglyptics) will be collected to disentangle the influence of these factors on partner choice and social vulnerability (depending on the grants received).
The Impact of Virtual Reality on Behavioral Patterns and Decision-Making Processes in Older Adults: A Behavioral Science Perspective
Tutor: doc. Michal Vostrý (Michal.Vostry@ujep.cz)
This dissertation focuses on how the use of virtual reality influences everyday decision-making, risk perception, and behavior change in older adults. The aim is to explore VR not only as a technological tool but as a behavioral intervention that can support autonomy, spatial orientation, and social engagement in later life. The research also examines barriers to technology adoption and opportunities for VR implementation within regulatory frameworks that promote active aging.
General information
The main mission of the 4-year specialized study is to educate our students to be experts and analysts who will have the knowledge and competencies for critical analysis of the functioning of economic policy, economic regulation tools and consumer protection. We focus on current societal issues that have implications for public policy making.
The main basis of the programme is the knowledge base of behavioural economics and psychology. The study develops opportunities to interact in a research team, present and defend the results of one’s own scientific work. Students have the opportunity to use a modern stationary and mobile behavioural laboratory and the SMART Public Administration Laboratory equipped with public funds from the OPIE project CZ.02.1.01/0.0/0.0/16_017/0002689. The study is conducted in Czech and English.
