How can we bring life back to urban rivers? Apply for the Summer School 2026!

Discover how to restore urban rivers, contribute to revitalisation efforts, and improve both the environment and quality of life in cities.

Applications are now open for the Summer School on Urban River Restoration 2026, which will take place at UJEP. The programme focuses on nature-based solutions and offers the opportunity to work in international teams on real-world projects.

Jan Evangelista Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem invites students from various disciplines and countries to join this summer school, taking place from 29 June to 3 July 2026.

Urban river restoration represents an important approach to improving environmental quality as well as quality of life in cities. The summer school addresses the use of nature-based measures and reflects key challenges such as limited space in built-up areas, complex land ownership, and the involvement of multiple stakeholders.

Participants will work in international and interdisciplinary teams, visit specific sites in Ústí nad Labem, and design measures to support biodiversity and improve river environments. The programme combines expert lectures, teamwork, and field activities.

The summer school is part of the ReBioClim project, funded by the Interreg Central Europe programme, and is organised in cooperation with international partners. The course is free of charge and includes lunches and dinners. Accommodation is arranged individually by participants.
