Czech and German Students Revitalize Urban Rivers Together

Students from UJEP and TU Dresden joined forces to propose new ways of revitalizing urban streams. Their joint work, presented in Ústí nad Labem, was part of the ReBioClim project co-funded by the Interreg Central Europe programme.

Throughout the semester, international teams worked both online and in the field, mapping and assessing the Geberbach stream in Dresden, which serves as a pilot site for the project. The results will now help the city of Dresden plan future revitalization steps.

In summer 2026, UJEP will host an international summer school focused on urban river restoration and the evaluation of ecosystem services.

The ReBioClim project (Restoring urban streams to promote Biodiversity, Climate adaptation and quality of life in cities, CE0200754) connects partners from five European countries – Czechia, Germany, Poland, Slovakia, and the Netherlands – together with the pilot cities Jablonec nad Nisou, Dresden, Poznań, and Senica.
